The Honda dealer says you must use Honda brake fluid, not other brands. Is that a load of BS or true?

The Honda dealer (and the owner's manual) is saying you can't use parts store brake fluid (Pyroil, Valvoline, etc.) in Hondas or Acuras, and you can't use Honda DOT3 fluid in any other make of car. Something about a special formula. Is that really true, or are they just trying to sell me something? The Honda dealer says you must use Honda brake fluid, not other brands. Is that a load of BS or true? It's BS, you can use other brands. It's just like when you buy a tub or bottle of car wax. It always says for best results use "our brand" of car wash before you wax. Since when is 1 car wash better than the other?

It's the same concept with brake fluid, antifreeze, etc.

IMO, there is not much of a price difference between the Honda brand and other reputable brands so I actually just stick with the manufacturers brand. The Honda dealer says you must use Honda brake fluid, not other brands. Is that a load of BS or true?you use DOT 3 type brake fluid. I think it has silicone in it. But anyway yu have to use that number type.

Honda might cost a little bit more,, but it probably has some other things in there to make it better. I would just use the Honda.

It is no big deal.

But when you get new brakes, i am sure the local garage will screw things up anyway.

They are smarter than anybody else. Same with transmission fluid. The Honda dealer says you must use Honda brake fluid, not other brands. Is that a load of BS or true?it's bs u can use other brands for break fluid... but not when it comes to steering fluid
