Hi im 18 and am looking for a fun to drive manual car with decent gas mileage, I like the 2006 honda civic si but want to know what else is out there, I want it to be fast, have good handling and look nice, right now I have a 2004 honda accord ex-l 4 banger and its a nice car but not that sporty. Thanks for ur help. What is a good alternative to a 2006 honda civic si?being as i drive an 08 Civic Si, disregard that guys comment. yes the newer Si' are heavier, but all new cars are because of the added safety and technology we are cramming in them. ive raced 7th gen civic Si' and they do NOT oull on the 8th gens. so no older is not faster. since you like the Si, you could look into getting an rsx-type-s. very similar to 06-11 Civic Si, but the acura version. (rsx does not have helical LSD, and its drive by cable, where as the Si, is drive by wire. like they said, EVO or WRX STI are great fast AWD turbocharged platforms. however, they tend to have really exspensive parts. and no offense to EVO fans, but its a mitsubishi, its like a riches to rags story... stupid stuff breaks on mitsu... and forget the transmission lol. of course those cars cost 40k where as the Si is 20k. Dude check out the new mustangs... i know theres a million mustangs on the road, but the 2011-2012, wow, its alot of performance for the cash. its putting down power comparable with cars that cost twice as much as it. like someone said colbalt SS, they have a supercharged version, but for being Supercharged, its not much quicker then the Si(literally like 8hp i think), and well you have the extra maintenace to go along with the supercharger. dude i love my Si, the rsx type s is pretty sweet little ride. of course if you can find a supra that hasnt been beat to hell, its great platform, a used honda s2000 could be another good choice, im not sure if it still is, but i know for awhile the s2000 was the fastest N/A 4 cylinder car. however they are a bit pricey for what they are. nissan 350z or 370z of course are both very sweet sporty rides. i wouldnt totaly be against an older Si, i personally like the 1999-2000 civic Si, idk why but i dont like the 02-05 Si hatchback, i think its ugly, but i dont like hatches so thats probably why. a 99-00 Si could be a great option. you can pick one up for fairly cheap, and their parts are pretty cheaps since they are getting to be older cars now. What is a good alternative to a 2006 honda civic si?Do not get the 2006 Honda Civic Si!! Bad choice. If you want a Honda Civic Si, go with a older model like a 2003 or 2004. 2006 Honda Civic Si is heavier than the older models and doesn't have much of a higher horsepower, so the older model is faster and has better acceleration. It's kinda ugly too. Or you can always go with a Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Evo if you have extra cash. They're both better in performance than the Si and personally they look better than the 2006. Don't get it. Go with something better. What is a good alternative to a 2006 honda civic si?Depends on how much money you have. A few galleons could get you the Nimbus 2000, but if you really want to splash out, a shiny new firebolt is the fastest yet! What is a good alternative to a 2006 honda civic si?
