What is the best estimate to replace a head gasket, for a honda?

I have a 1991 Honda Civic, and i believe that the head gasket is blown. I am just curious to know what is a good estimate of the cost to fix this problem. I know nothing about cars, and i dont really want to get screwed over by a mechanic on the cost. What is the best estimate to replace a head gasket, for a honda?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>

look in that question above to get a labor rate for your area.

Then you are looking at average of 5 hours for labor.

Use that 5 hours with the above link for your labor cost, that will be an average.

Then around 100 bucks for parts and fluids.

The shop will want to have the head checked for cracks and if fine then have it surface planed for trueness. anywhere from 50 to 100 bucks for that.

so that gives you an idea of what to look forward to.

I hope this is the type of answer you are looking for. you ask for pricing and hopefully this provides that for you. What is the best estimate to replace a head gasket, for a honda?Well since there are other things like the timing belt that should be replaced at the same time.Probably more than the car is worth.
