How long does a Honda Civic battery last?

I am currently considering buying a used 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid with 119,000 miles. I was advised to research the lifespan of hybrid batteries because it may need one shortly after I buy it. I had the vehicle inspected and there are no mechanical issues at all, but I'm just concerned about the battery thing. Does anyone know how long they typically last/how expensive replacement is/if I should be asking the owner any other questions regarding this? Thanks. How long does a Honda Civic battery last?Lead acid batteries for most every car made lasts from 5 to 7 years. Then they are wore out. If you buy batteries from the dealer, expect to pay double any other high price. I got mine from "the Battery doctor", and I got a refurbished battery(which means the case is the same- the guts are torn out and replaced inside it with new stuff and new acid is put in and then it is resealed. So it is used and new at the same time(far cheaper). I have also bought batteries at Costco (no particular brand name) I just had to use a to use a tape measure and measure my battery LxWxH and get the same size.

I got a 1000Amp for $ 35.00. The best Wal~Mart could do was 850Amp for $175.00

So it pays to shop around. How long does a Honda Civic battery last? The battey in the hybrid civic is a 144 volt battery and its located in the trunk of the civic that's why the front part of the trunk is sectioned off and there is a vent in the rear shelf where the back speakers are. The battery life span is supposed to be about 7 years but I have replaced them sooner than that. The Honda dealer is the only place you can get the battery and it was upwards of $5000.00 and the Honda dealer would be the only people that can replace the battery. It is a 144 volt and it will kill you if you don't know what you are doing. I would call your local Honda dealer to check the price on the battery. Make sure you tell them that its the 144 volt battery and not the 12 volt battery that is under the Hood. Also keep in mind that a hybrid civic is a high maintain car make sure you fully understand what you are getting into. Check into just maintenance like oil changes. The hybrid takes 0w20 motor oil and that is not a standard oil change. I have seen alot of people very upset because they had no idea what they got themselves in with their purchase. Good luck I hope I have been helpful. How long does a Honda Civic battery last?3 years roughly from a lead battery.
