I need to replace the radiator in my Honda accord and am wondering if I should maybe have it done instead... Just don't know what I am getting into and looking for some help :
Thanks! How hard is it to replace a radiator in a '94 Honda Accord?i have a 95 accord (same car) and i had to replace my rad last year. i couldn't decide if i should take it somewhere and spend a arm and leg or do it myself. i did it myself...it took some time (most of an afternoon about 5 hours or so) be cause i didn't know what i was doing. before i tackled this job though, i went to autozone and bought a haynes manual for my car. it has been THE most helpful tool i have ever bought. tells you how to do every single repair you can imagine to this car. step by step, with pics. that helped a lot...
the job itself isn't too hard. just make sure you plug up the transmission coolant lines real good because they leak out fluid when you disconnect them from the bottom of the radiator (there are two) also while you have the radiator out check your coolant hoses if they feel smushy and weak, go ahead and replace them while it's all taken apart because they deteriorate over time and they can get leaks in them. my upper hose did about a month ago.
oh yeah, the only really hard part is getting the fans to fit back into the engine bay behind the radiator. that took me forever because it is just so tight it's really hard to fit it in there.
remember to bleed you coolant system after you fill it with coolant. the the car get hot so the thermostat opens and then open up the bleeder valve (looks kinda like a little nipple) on the top of the thermostat housing. connect a small hose and make sure the coolant coming from the valve is constant and make sure there are no air bubbles You have to work those bubbles out by bleeding it, or else the coolant may not flow properly and your car will overheat. That crap happened to me after working on it for like 5 hours it still overheated. I was mad haha but at least it was an easy (FREE) fix...
Good luck and have fun! =]How hard is it to replace a radiator in a '94 Honda Accord? This has come up before here. You won't have to fight the fans if you pull the radiator and fans out as a unit. Two hold downs at the top come out, fans get unplugged and the hoses dis-connected and moved out of the way.The radiator pulls right out.I did mine in the driveway under an hour using a new radiator from Pep-boys and a "Hayes" 16" fan instead of the two OEM Units.regretably,I should have gone with the "Hayes" side-by-side set up for a few bucks more.100 degree plus days stuck in traffic send the temp needle soaring.Do like the man above said, next time get the "Haynes" maintenance manual, save yourself hundreds of dollars and get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. How hard is it to replace a radiator in a '94 Honda Accord?its not that hard, if you go OEM parts it pretty easy. Take a visit to this website, they have all OEM parts with great pricing and customer service.

they even have a VIN system that helps you save your cars information so next time you can visit them and your car is already there.
